Belleville police said a 60-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a pickup truck in the 1200 block of Centreville Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Friday — the 61-year-old driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and later released pending further investigation.
🏛️ Government
Illinois lawmakers passed a warehouse safety bill that requires operators to craft tornado safety plans and add storm shelters for new warehouses; the legislation also mandates that building inspectors obtain International Code Council certification.
The bill—spurred by the deadly Edwardsville tornado in 2021 and its aftermath—now awaits Governor Pritzker's signature.
