CRIME NEWS

  • Belleville police said a 60-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a pickup truck in the 1200 block of Centreville Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Friday — the 61-year-old driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and later released pending further investigation.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Illinois lawmakers passed a warehouse safety bill that requires operators to craft tornado safety plans and add storm shelters for new warehouses; the legislation also mandates that building inspectors obtain International Code Council certification. The bill—spurred by the deadly Edwardsville tornado in 2021 and its aftermath—now awaits Governor Pritzker's signature.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
