Morel mushroom hunting season is on in Illinois and Missouri as spring weather and warming temperatures boost growth in local woodlands + river bottoms.
Foragers are advised to verify that mushrooms are true morels before eating since false ones can be dangerous.

IDOT announced that westbound I-64 will be reduced to one lane between Illinois 159 and Illinois 157 for pavement work.
Lane closures will begin Friday, April 10 at 8 p.m. until Monday, April 13 and repeat from Friday, April 17 until Monday, April 20 so drivers should plan alternate routes.

The American Red Cross urges donors to book blood or platelet donations—donors get a t-shirt if giving by April 12 and a $15 e-gift card if donating after—and a Belleville event is set at Southwestern Illinois College on April 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
