  • The Overnight Warming Locations in Alton, Edwardsville, and Granite City provided warm shelter—serving meals, showers and bus tokens last night when temperatures dropped to 20 degrees or lower. Organizers stressed that Giving Tuesday support through donations and volunteering is still needed to help neighbors with heat insufficiency.  Riverbender
  • The St. Louis Food Bank received a $1 million donation from Meridian Health of Illinois on Tuesday for its Food on the Move program—a free mobile grocery service set to make over 300 visits to Metro East and Southern Illinois over the next three years.  First Alert 4

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Snow fell earlier than expected on Monday and caused major delays and accidents in the St. Louis area as untreated roads and a pile-up on westbound I-270 in Illinois led to lane closures—officials said crews worked around the clock to clear roads and urged drivers to avoid travel if possible.  KSDK
