Gateway Pet Guardians in East St. Louis is asking community members to foster shelter dogs for one week during Thanksgiving—dogs that usually stay in kennels for about 23 hours daily—and give them a chance to decompress and socialize.
Interested residents can meet the placement team at the pet resource center on Tuesday or Wednesday as the organization provides all necessary supplies.
🌲 Environment
Illinois hunters harvested 51,409 deer during the firearm season weekend held Nov.
21-23, with Macoupin County leading regional totals at 1,110—data from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources shows a slight decrease from last season. The season continues with youth and specialized hunts, including plans for a muzzleloader season beginning Dec. 12-14—offering additional opportunities for hunters.
