The Glen Ed Food Pantry saw its monthly visitors nearly double from 300 to 400—jumping to 600 last month—because families faced confusion over SNAP benefit changes, according to Executive Director Jane Ahasay.

The pantry will keep its shelves stocked with increased donations until clear rules on aid are provided.

Caritas Family Solutions was chosen by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to create a new online payment portal for nonprofit agencies across the state – Billing Operations Manager Abigail York is working with a third-party programmer, with final formulas expected by the end of December and testing set to take up to a year.
