  • Heat Up St. Louis founder Gentry Trotter said the charity is in financial crisis because public funds dried up after the May 16 tornado and a government shutdown, so it is seeking donations to help elderly, physically challenged and low-income families in Missouri and Illinois — the nonprofit has served the community for 25 years.  KSDK

CRIME NEWS

  • A 1948 Jackie Robinson baseball card valued at $9,000 was stolen from Collectors Corner at 116 E. Main Street in Belleville earlier this week — it was recovered on Oct. 30 and store management said they are working out the details for next steps.  Riverbender

  • Today, Father McGivney Catholic High School will host Columbia at 6 p.m. in the IHSA Class 1A Sectional in Glen Carbon—earlier at 11 a.m., Althoff Catholic High School will play Chatham Glenwood in the Class 2A Mascoutah Sectional, with both teams seeking a sectional title.  Riverbender
