Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 16th of October.
Good morning, Belleville.
The Collinsville City Council updated residents that the city will install a new $10M water filtration system to reduce PFAS levels in drinking water—residents are advised to use water filters until the system is built.
The project will start construction in 2027 and may be partly funded by a lawsuit against chemical manufacturers—after tests showed rising contamination that led to a well closure in 2024.
The Belleville East girls volleyball team upset Edwardsville for the first time in 19 years—winning 25-20, 17-25, 25-21 on Oct 14 at Lucco-Jackson Gym.
The win raised the Lancers to a 22-5 record and tied both teams at 8-2 in the Southwestern Conference.
