  • Phillips 66 announced Tuesday, Sept. 9 that it will buy Cenovus Energy's 50% stake in WRB Refining LP for $1.4 billion in cash—giving it full control of the Wood River and Borger refineries, with the deal set to close in Q4.  Riverbender

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Belleville officials passed new ordinances to ban masks and backpacks larger than 9 by 12 inches at festivals to help curb unruly teen gatherings. Police said events will now end by 8 p.m.—officers in neon vests will patrol and parents of arrested teens could also face charges.  KSDK

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Althoff Catholic High School boys soccer team is returning most of its key players plus captains to defend their state title with a strong 7-2-1 record so far. They will face Triad on Saturday, September 13 at 2:30 p.m. in a tough Gateway Metro Conference match to test their strength.  Riverbender
