  • Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is proposing to remove zip codes, credit scores and age from auto insurance rates to make pricing fairer. Insurance industry officials warn that such changes might raise premiums — residents can share their opinions at upcoming virtual town halls.  KSDK
  • State Rep. Kevin Schmidt donated his pay raise to the FFA Can-Do Challenge by collecting 150 cans at Smithton Grade School, Smithton Fire Department, Freeburg Country Mart, and Freeburg High School to supply local food pantries. He has made these donations regularly since voting against pay raises—supporting efforts to fight food insecurity.  Riverbender

  • Waterloo woman Mary McNeight says a drone spraying pesticides near her home caused chemical drift that made several of her service dogs sick and led to high vet bills, with one dog hospitalized.
