CRIME NEWS

  • 33-year-old Emily Johnson was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Belleville after pulling over for a flat tire while on her way to babysit, and her family is calling for better lighting, sidewalks, wider shoulders, and reflective signs on Green Mount Road—police have yet to file charges as the suspect was released pending further investigation.  KSDK

FINANCE NEWS

  • An Illinois iLottery player won $50,000 this morning after matching four numbers plus the Powerball. Lottery officials announced that the jackpot climbs to $950 million for Saturday night's drawing—making it the sixth-largest Powerball jackpot in history.  Riverbender

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Illinois Department of Transportation reopened many construction lanes for Labor Day travel while non-emergency closures are suspended from 3 p.m. today until 11:59 p.m. Monday. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and follow safety signs in work zones—many lanes remain closed.  Riverbender
