The Belleville Area Humane Society will host its annual Wine for Whiskers fall festival on September 18—from 5:30—9 p.m.—at The Weingarten to support local animal care.

Community members can enjoy dinner, drinks, carnival games, raffles and a silent auction with $50 tickets that include dinner and two drink tickets while BAHS aims to raise $55,000 for food, veterinary care and facility updates.

Harold Schaedler, 49, took off on his routine motorized bike ride Saturday evening near Illinois Route 157 in Cahokia Heights but did not return—he was fatally struck by a hit-and-run vehicle near his Belleville home and police have not yet identified the driver or located his missing bike.
