  • Johnna Bowker, a Bethalto resident, built a 24-hour produce stand off Circle Drive in Cottage Hills to honor her late grandfather and share pesticide-free produce from her garden. She uses an honor system with cash-only sales—selling low-cost fruits and vegetables appreciated by nearby seniors—and will update payment options with Venmo next spring.  KSDK

CRIME NEWS

  • At City Fest over the weekend, police arrested 17 teens from O’Fallon and Belleville after fights broke out and a 14-year-old fired shots into the air, and officials said they will consider changes such as holding parents accountable and switching to daytime events.  KSDK

FINANCE NEWS

  • A lottery ticket player won $14.6 million by matching all six numbers in Monday's Illinois Lotto drawing. Crown Mart in East St. Louis sold the ticket and received a $146,000 bonus—money that will be used to remodel the store and reward staff.  First Alert 4

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Monday, Aug. 25, local high school teams started the season strong in soccer and volleyball. McGivney Catholic edged Belleville West 1-0 while Belleville Althoff Catholic won 9-0 in soccer — they also swept Carlyle in girls volleyball at the Glenn Schott Center.  Riverbender
