CRIME NEWS

  • A suspect was taken into custody after a 33-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run on Thursday morning in Belleville—she was struck on Greenmount Road near Route 15 and pronounced dead at the hospital.  First Alert 4
  • Belleville police said that Emily Johnson, age 33 from Mascoutah, died in a hit-and-run accident and that authorities found the vehicle—and a suspect—in their investigation.  St. Louis Post-Dispatch
  • A national study showed that Black residents in Missouri faced very high homicide risks and that Illinois Black people were nearly 10 times more likely to be killed than white people while local groups like Show Me Peace are working to break the cycle of gang violence on Metro East streets—hoping to end a long history of loss.  KSDK
  • Belleville resident Isaiah A. Schneider, 22, is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of weapons after allegedly carrying a loaded CMD .22 caliber revolver without a FOID card, while cases in Collinsville and Venice allege illegal possession of a stolen Ruger LCP .380 handgun and armed violence; Orlandis M. Russell, 33, remains in custody—charged with multiple felony offenses including defacing a firearm and possessing cannabis—as all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.  Riverbender
