- ➤ State Senator Belt signed the Warehouse Tornado Preparedness Act in Springfield in response to the December 2021 tornado that hit an Amazon warehouse in Edwardsville. The law requires warehouse operators to file detailed safety plans—covering evacuation procedures, emergency equipment, and shelter supplies—within 120 days and sets higher construction standards for new facilities.
