Belleville City Council approved turning the McCormick Center (near the Cathedral of St. Peter) into an overnight warming shelter with 20 beds for residents when temperatures drop to 20° or below, with social worker Kara Moore leading the pre-vetted program by the Salvation Army.
Westbound I-64 from I-255 to 18th Street in St. Clair County is closed for bridge repairs and resurfacing and is causing 20 to 30 minute delays for drivers.
The highway will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
