- ➤ Ameren customers saw steep electric bill increases in July with one person paying $1,808, but a watchdog group said the power plant owners—who sell power to Ameren—are driving the high prices. Ameren said that on Oct. 1, rates will drop to about .08 to .09 per kilowatt-hour and customers can call to arrange budget billing or payment plans. KSDK
