- ➤ Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a deadly shooting at a home on Warren Avenue near Kingshighway in Washington Park before 5:40 a.m.—Illinois State Police confirmed a male victim was shot as the St. Clair County Coroner removed the body from the front yard. KSDK

- ➤ Parents in Belleville can encourage learning and creativity this summer by trying simple DIY crafts that boost problem-solving and fine motor skills—ideas include painted rock creatures, popsicle stick photo frames, nature collages, tie-dye t-shirts, and paper plate animal masks. Riverbender
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The state is planning a new interstate — the Southwest Illinois Connector — that would expand routes 127, 154 and 3 to four lanes between Murphysboro and Waterloo to shorten travel times from St. Louis. Local leaders say the project may bring $1.2 billion in business revenue and $300 million in tourism as IDOT uses cell phone data and seeks public input for its design. KSDK
