CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 19-year-old employee at the Collinsville Walmart repeatedly stabbed a coworker behind the deli counter on Wednesday because he said she disrespected him — the victim survived but suffered multiple injuries and the suspect is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery. - ➤ Before 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Walmart Supercenter in Collinsville a dispute between two employees led to one stabbing the other— the victim was taken to a hospital and the suspect was taken into custody— with police saying they will release more information after formal charges are filed. - ➤ Residents from Belleville, Cottage Hills, Granite City, and Madison were charged with possessing stolen vehicles—including a 2007 Toyota Camry, a 2009 Ford Flex, a Jaguar X-Type, and a 2019 Kia Optima—with Class 2 felony charges, and all suspects were released on pretrial release. Riverbender

- ➤ John Kernan was admitted to Mercy Hospital after he experienced weakness, chills, and fever following a tick bite while playing golf. He spent one week in the hospital (including two days in the ICU) and doctors said he may need six to eight weeks to recover. KSDK
