- ➤ U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin said he supports peaceful protests and condemned strong-arm tactics after U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla was forcibly removed from a press conference on immigration protests. Durbin, who was in St. Clair County on Friday to mark sewer and flooding work in Cahokia Heights (paid for with federal funds amounting to $13.5 million), urged protesters to exercise their constitutional rights peacefully as Missouri’s National Guard stands ready.
