EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Greenville University announced on May 24th at 8:00 a.m. that 337 students earned Dean's List honors for the spring semester by completing at least 12 credit hours and meeting GPA requirements (freshmen needed a 3.5 and others 3.7 or above). The recognition covers both on-campus and online undergraduate learners at the Christian liberal arts school. Riverbender
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On May 24, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski submitted 15 local projects to the House Appropriations Committee to seek federal funding for future community upgrades in the 13th District—thirteen of these had been approved last year but were dropped from a March funding bill. Riverbender
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On May 23, area track athletes competed in the 3A and 2A IHSA Girls State Track and Field Prelims and advanced in events like sprints, hurdles, relays, and jumps — with competitors from Belleville East, Triad, and East Alton-Wood River among those qualifying. Rayna Raglin of Alton ran the 100 and 200 meters — while Sophia Shapiro and Joi Story of Edwardsville cleared hurdles and threw in shot put and discus — marking a strong local performance.
