- ➤ U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski said a bipartisan bill to improve VA training and cut red tape for military sexual trauma claims passed out of the House Veterans Affairs Committee on Tuesday—and it has support from Rep. Mike Bost for further progress. St. Louis Post-Dispatch
- ➤ On Friday, May 9th, lawmakers, business leaders, union representatives and scientists met in Edwardsville to discuss clean energy challenges that may affect the nation. The closed-door roundtable was led by Reps. Budzinski, Peters and Bell (from Illinois, California and Missouri). First Alert 4
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Belleville West High School improved to 14-8 with a 2-1 win over Edwardsville on May 8 in an eight-inning game, as pitchers Chase Boente and Casey Fultz led the team with strong performances. Riverbender
- ➤ On May 8, Belleville West beat Edwardsville 2-1 at the Edwardsville District 7 Sports Complex after a rain and lightning delay moved the game to a junior varsity field – Hunter Baugh pitched six innings with eight strikeouts before an error in the top of the eighth allowed the winning run.
