- ➤ The hour-long special 'The Fall of Saigon: 50 years later' debuted on May 6 on streaming app 5+—feature firsthand accounts from refugees who found a home in St. Louis after Saigon fell. It includes interviews with a retired doctor, teacher, business owners, and a Vietnam veteran who found healing after the Vietnam War. KSDK
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services announced it is expanding its Domestic Violence Co—Location Program by placing a domestic violence advocate in the Belleville office for St—Clair County and one in the Springfield office for Sangamon County to help families connected with the child welfare system. The initiative partners with local domestic violence agencies and is supported by a grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services to improve access to services and ensure safety for survivors. - ➤ Illinois lawmakers are considering a proposal to seal the criminal records of up to 3 million residents who have served time for non-violent offenses in order to improve job and housing opportunities. The bill will be unveiled on Mother's Day and will keep records available to law enforcement + some lawmakers express concerns about public safety and employer rights. KSDK
