- ➤ St. Clair County Transit District and Citizens for Modern Transit are urging Belleville residents to participate in National Bike to Work Week from May 12-19. Street teams will be at transit centers on May 12 from 6 to 8 a.m. — handing out granola bars and information, while riders who post photos with the designated hashtag will enter a drawing for a prize package valued at more than $200. - ➤ Residents in East Carondelet were evacuated Monday evening after a hand grenade was found near 13th and State streets (officials said the pin was still in place, which may mean it is a test device) as experts from Scott Air Force worked to determine its status. First Alert 4

- ➤ Fourth graders in Shaw created an outdoor garden by moving classroom-grown vegetables to a plot near I-44 at Lawrence and De Tonty, and the summer produce will be donated to Operation Food Search to help local residents access healthy food—teaching them science and agriculture in a hands-on way.
