School communities in Collinsville, Mascoutah and Granite City held a rally on Sunday to oppose a bill that would ban Native American mascots, saying the names honor heritage + bring residents together.
The Illinois Senate debates the measure after it passed the House, and if approved, schools must choose a new mascot by July 1 + complete all changes by September 1.
