A federal grand jury charged nine people with immigration-related offenses over the past two months in southern Illinois.
The charges include eight individuals accused of illegal reentry after deportation and one facing a firearms-related charge, all part of Operation Take Back America (a federal effort focused on repeat offenders).
On Tuesday, April 15, multiple baseball games were played in Belleville where Belleville East scored 17 runs against East St. Louis — key players helped improve team records as wins by O’Fallon, New Athens, North Mac and others were recorded.
Other sports events included volleyball victories by Edwardsville and Belleville West along with strong track performances in local competitions — further highlighting the day’s full slate of sports action.
