Severe storms overnight caused duplicate emergency alerts as county officials switched from CodeRED to Everbridge.

Officials say the new system is expected to streamline warnings and that residents already registered need no action — duplicate alerts may continue until the upgrade is complete.

St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon is beginning a $116 million expansion to add patient beds, enlarge its emergency department and build a surgery center, with new spaces opening this fall and full completion by summer 2027.
