The East St. Louis Fire Department answered a call for a massive pallet fire near South Main Street that broke out around 2 a.m. Tuesday and spread to multiple buildings and a billboard — fire crews from Columbia, Prairie Du Pont, and Millstadt districts also assisted in fighting the blaze.
A fire raged at Eco Recycling Solutions at 225 South Main Street in East St. Louis Tuesday as crews from 30 agencies battled heavy winds and stacked wood with no injuries reported—by late afternoon, the blaze had mostly been contained and state investigators were set to determine its cause.
Cahokia Heights leaders learned on Tuesday that the sewer project may lose funding after Congress left out over $67 million from the budget, and Congresswoman Budzinski said she will have to resubmit the money.
The city now may have to use its general fund to cover the required upgrade—if the money is not restored, the project could be canceled.
On Monday, April 14, 2025, several local high school baseball teams played regional contests as Collinsville beat Marquette 8-7 at Grizzlies Ballpark and Belleville East won 11-1 over Freeburg—other games saw Highland, Granite City, and Metro-East secure wins that adjusted team records—marking key outcomes from the day.
