Twenty investigators from Cahokia Police and the Major Case Squad are investigating the shooting death of 22-year-old Jamya Dukes—she was taken to Touchette Regional Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
St. Clair County’s contested races on April 1 saw low voter turnout as only 15% of 168,330 registered voters cast ballots.
In Belleville, 6,914 of 43,180 voters voted and Mayor Patty Gregory was replaced by challenger Jennifer Gain Meyer.
On Tuesday, April 1, Belleville East won 10-0 over Valmeyer while Belleville West beat Wheaton-Warrenville South 2-0, and Father McGivney Catholic ended Belleville Althoff Catholic’s seven-game win streak with a 7-1 win at Griffins Field — all with strong hitting and timely plays.
On April 1, 2025, sports scores showed local high school baseball and softball games with wins by Belleville West and Father McGivney Catholic and also listed Major League Baseball and NHL results — detailing wins and close games across several contests.
During the Play It Again Sports Girls Roundup on March 31 and April 1, Belleville East earned an 18 to 0 softball win over East St. Louis and a 3 to 2 soccer win, while Belleville West recorded an 11 to 2 softball win over Collinsville and a 2 to 0 soccer victory after extra time (all results help set the stage for upcoming playoffs). Several other local teams competed in softball, soccer and lacrosse, with strong performances that shaped the season standings.
