The Belleville diocese announced Monday that Pope Francis appointed Bishop Michael McGovern as the next archbishop of Omaha, replacing George Lucas who served since 2009.

McGovern, a Chicago native, will be installed on May 7 at the Cathedral of St. Cecilia — he said he looks forward to learning more about the ministries he will support.
