  • Data from the National Weather Service shows reports of giant hail have increased in Missouri and Illinois since the 2001 storm, likely because of better technology and more reports from social media observers + an expanded spotter network. AAA offered tips for residents to protect their vehicles from storm damage, suggesting the use of hail covers and blankets.  KSDK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department announced that Deputy Sheriff Lamont C. Reid (55) died on duty after suffering a heart attack during a shift meeting while assisting in a search for a suicidal man. He served for more than 20 years and is survived by his wife and three children.  Riverbender
