Police in Fairview Heights said a person was killed in a motor vehicle crash Tuesday near North Illinois Street — Salem Place around 11 a.m., with first responders unable to save the victim and the Metro East Crash Assistance Team investigating the scene.

SIU School of Medicine hosted its residency match event on March 21st—where 71 med students from Edwardsville, Belleville, Collinsville, Granite City and O'Fallon matched into programs in specialties including emergency management and psychiatry.
The event at the Edward J. Curtis Memorial Learning Center in Springfield featured remarks from Dean Jerry Kruse and Associate Dean Haneme Idrizi, and 30 students will begin their training in Illinois this July.
