- ➤ The Riverbend area will host a busy weekend from March 7 to 16, 2025 with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, live music events, family fish fries and a voter rally with Mayor Goins—each event offering a unique way for neighbors to gather. - ➤ Belle-Clair speedway demolition began Thursday to clear space for a new modern quarter-mile track and extra areas at the fairgrounds—county officials say work will finish later this year, possibly in time for the St. Clair County Fair. First Alert 4
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Local education advocates say federal layoffs at the Department of Education are putting college aid at risk for students. Groups warn that lost scholarships and fewer funds may force students to travel further for classes & add stress during a time of uncertainty. KSDK

- ➤ Carla Cope, whose 29-year-old son died in a December tornado at the Amazon warehouse, is working with lawmakers to improve building safety. Madison County Emergency Management has added a technical rescue team as severe weather with winds up to 70 mph & a possible tornado nears Friday evening. KSDK
- ➤ Metro Transit will change 17 bus routes starting March 17 to improve on-time service and connections. The updates do not affect MetroLink or Metro Call-A-Ride services and riders can call Metro Transit Information at 314-231-2345 if they need help. KSDK
