Good morning, Belleville.

Cahokia Heights residents have long faced sewage overflows affecting tap water quality.

Recent water tests—including some that detected coliform and E.coli—prompt Illinois American Water and city officials to affirm the water meets regulatory standards.

IDOT announced that westbound I-55/70 will be reduced to two lanes from 9 a.m. tomorrow until 6 a.m. Friday to allow planned bridge repairs between Illinois 203 and Exchange Avenue in St. Clair County (motorists should use alternate routes for safety).

A nonprofit study conducted over seven months found E. coli and low chlorine in drinking water samples from Cahokia Heights homes, validating long-held resident concerns, while Illinois American Water & state regulators assert current tests confirm water meets safety standards.
