EDUCATION NEWS

  • Althoff Catholic senior PJ Walton is recognized for combining academics with athletic success (a National Honor Society and Beta Club member) as he won two state wrestling titles while preparing to wrestle in college and study law.  Riverbender
  • Althoff Catholic High School senior Elyse Myatt earned Student of the Month honors for doing well in varsity soccer, swimming, and academics; she also works as a lifeguard and joined Belleville’s CEO program — she plans to study civil engineering.  Riverbender

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • U.S. Census data from 2025 showed that the St. Louis metro area issued 5,417 housing permits (of which 3,530 were single-family) and ranked 58 among 75 major cities. Experts said stalled developments and outdated zoning contributed to the decline and stressed that growing multi-family options could help future growth.  KSDK

  • Belleville East rallied to beat Homewood-Flossmoor 54-47 in the Bloomington super-sectional on Monday, March 2, advancing to the quarterfinals against Nazareth Academy. Breese Central won 46-33 over Teutopolis in the Class 2A super-sectional in Benton.  Riverbender
