- ➤ At Friday’s IHSA state wrestling meet, Michael Soto (285 lbs) from East Alton-Wood River fell by fall to Jeremiah Luke while Belleville Althoff Catholic wrestlers competed in several matches. Riverbender
- ➤ Jonathan Rulo became Belleville East’s first two-time state wrestling champion after winning the Class 3A 285-pound finals at Champaign — he will now focus on playing college football. Riverbender
- ➤ Pierre Walton of Althoff Catholic won his second IHSA 165-pound wrestling title after beating Casey Etheridge 12-2 in the championship match at the State Farm Center on the University of Illinois campus, ending his high school career. Riverbender
