  • Residents in Troy opposed a proposed 500-megawatt data center planned off Highway 40 along Collinsville Road — citing noise, flooding, and farmland loss during a heated Tuesday meeting at Triad High School’s cafeteria — while Cloverleaf Infrastructure says stormwater detention ponds will manage runoff if the project moves forward.  KSDK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Illinois Department of Transportation announced lane closures on West Highway 50 at I-64 beginning Feb. 9 with travel now reduced to one lane in each direction for bridge construction and delays expected until early summer.  Riverbender
  • Gloria Beckman, a Belleville resident, discovered her SNAP card was hacked at Aldi last week, leaving her without $252 in benefits; the Illinois Department of Human Services said there was no system hack and advised affected customers to use food pantries and other emergency resources.  KSDK
