About this event

Objective assessment of quantitative imaging methods without ground truth: No-gold-standard evaluation

Quantitative imaging is showing considerable promise in multiple pre-clinical and clinical applications. Realizing this promise requires evaluation of how reliably the quantitative imaging methods measure the underlying true quantitative values. However, such evaluations typically require availability of a gold standard, which is often unavailable in clinical settings. In this talk, we will discuss emerging no-gold-standard evaluation techniques that are being developed to address this fundamental challenge. Grounded in mathematically rigorous frameworks, these techniques have demonstrated promise in evaluating quantitative imaging methods without ground truth across multiple modalities, including diffusion MRI, PET, and SPECT. In this talk, we will discuss the theoretical foundations and present case studies demonstrating the application of these techniques, illustrating their potential to advance quantitative imaging evaluation and facilitate clinical translation.
